OCI Types

You must submit your OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) application at the India Consular Application Centre.

Important Information

  1. Please read all sections carefully before starting your application.

  2. If you have previously held Indian citizenship, you must first complete the surrender of your Indian passport before applying for OCI. If you have not yet renounced your Indian citizenship, you must apply for surrender of your Indian passport before submitting an OCI application.

  3. Once your application has been submitted to the High Commission or Consulate for processing, you can track its progress through the Government of India OCI status portal: Track OCI Application Status.

  4. VFS Global cannot provide additional status updates while the application is being processed by the High Commission or Consulate. Updates are available once the OCI card has been returned from the Mission.
